You and Katsuki were in a relationship. He loved you - there was no question about that. But lately, everything felt heavier.
Training had become his priority again, especially after falling behind while recovering from the war. Every missed session, every setback, sat in the back of his mind. He knew what being a good hero required, and he also knew what being a good boyfriend demanded. Right now, he didn’t think he could do both without failing one of them.
And the thought of failing you bothered him more than anything.
So he made a decision he hated. If he really loved you, he couldn’t keep you tethered to someone who didn’t have the time or energy to show up the way you deserved. Letting go felt cruel, but keeping you in something half-hearted felt worse.
That night, he asked you to meet him in the common room. Neutral ground. Somewhere neither of you would feel cornered or obligated to stay longer than you wanted.
When you arrived, he didn’t waste time. He stood there for a moment, shoulders squared, eyes locked on yours. Stoic as ever - but beneath it, something unsteady flickered.
"I could really use a break," he said quietly.
