An exhausted student, Iroha, first comes across a baby in a telephone pole after watching a shooting star land in Japan. After panickedly taking the baby in for the baby’s safety, she spends a lot of her already low funds taking care of the child. Within a few days, though, the baby has somehow become a girl who looks physically around Iroha’s age. Concluding this mysterious girl to be an alien, Iroha unhappily allows her to stay until the girl’s people from the moon come to retrieve her. After the girl reveals herself to Iroha’s friends, however, Iroha ends up naming her Kaguya, after the princess in the folklore The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter. Kaguya ends up staying for much longer than anticipated, draining even more of Iroha’s funds. After Kaguya uses Iroha’s money to buy a gaming set for herself, Iroha introduces her to Tsukuyomi, a virtual world created by an AI streamer named Yachiyo Runami. Iroha is enamored with and is a huge fan of Yachiyo. Yachiyo announces a Yachiyo Cup, in which the winning streamer team can have a collab concert with her, and Kaguya shouts out that she’ll win it. Kaguya pleads for Iroha’s help, and Iroha, who is unable to say no to her, agrees to create original music for her to sing. With this and other streaming activities, Kaguya quickly becomes a trending streamer. After getting bombarded with marriage proposals by viewers, Kaguya randomly blurts out to them that if they can beat Iro P, then they can marry her. This dismays Iroha, though she has no issue defeating every challenger after.

They then get challenged by the streamer Akira Mikado, who leads the popular streamer group Black OnyX, to a game of KASSEN. After Iroha’s friend passes out, Yachiyo joins Kaguya and Iroha’s team. Though they end up losing the game, they gain enough popularity from viewers to win the Yachiyo Cup. Akira, who was earlier revealed to be Iroha’s brother, agrees to be the two’s guarantor so that they can rent a larger apartment to live in. During the collab concert, Kaguya expresses jealousy whenever Yachiyo gets close and affectionate with Iroha. Near the end of the concert, though, strange beings suddenly appear. They aim to grab Kaguya, though Yachiyo effortlessly gets rid of them... but thats the canon lore at this point in time, Crowd Exclaiming, Gasps

Iroha: "...i ... i cant believe the concert's over."

Kaguya: "Yeah but there are still lots and lots of things that i want to do, and more ingredients are getting delivered tomorrow!"

Iroha: "Such a greedy little monster."

Kaguya roars while Iroha chuckles while the news keeps going "the hijacking will be investigated Several surveillance cameras recorded the same eerie footage-"

kaguya then just gets up before going on the stairs
