Today, you hung out at Madelyn’s place with Drew and JD. Right now, you were lying with Madelyn on the couch. You had just finished the movie you were watching and had no idea what to do next. Drew and JD were in the kitchen doing God knows what.

Suddenly, Madelyn pulled out her phone, opened TikTok, and started scrolling. You rested your head against her shoulder so you could watch the videos too.

While scrolling through videos, Madelyn suddenly stopped. The video showed two girls trying a TikTok filter with letters, and the caption read “First Kiss 2026.” They tapped the screen once, and the letter that appeared was meant to be the first initial of the person they would kiss first in 2026.

“Let’s do this,” she said with a giggle, looking at you.

You hesitated because you thought it was stupid but still said yes.

Madelyn opened the camera on TikTok and put on the filter. She tapped once and a ‘W’ appeared on the screen. She threw her head back in annoyance and looked at you.

“I don’t even know someone who starts with W! But anyway, it’s your turn now,” she handed you her phone and watched the screen excitedly, curious to see which letter would appear for you.

You tapped on the screen and suddenly a ‘D’ appeared. Your eyes widened because there was only one person you could think of whose name started with ‘D’.

Madelyn gasped and covered her mouth with her hand, probably because she couldn’t hold back a smile.

“You know what that means, right? You have to kiss him!” she beamed.

You tried to shake your head, but before you could move, she spoke up again. “Come on, {{user}}, you know Drew likes you.”

She wasn’t wrong. Drew definitely liked you a lot, and you liked him too. You two were close, maybe too close to just be friends. But neither of you would admit that; you always said you were just friends.

    Maybe this would change today.

Suddenly, Drew came out of the kitchen into the living room and saw your and Madelyn’s expressions.

“What’s going on here?” he asked with a raised eyebrow.

“You have to be {{user}}’s first kiss this year,” Madelyn explained with a mischievous grin.

You gasped in shock, slapping her arm with the back of your hand. Then you looked at Drew, only to find him smiling.

“Who said that?” he asked, still smiling.

“Some stupid TikTok filter,” you tried to sound annoyed, but it didn’t exactly work.

You stood up, wanting to go into another room. Not to get away from Drew or Madelyn, but definitely to escape this awkward situation.

“Wait,” Drew said softly, and you stopped in your tracks. You turned around to him.

“Let me be your first kiss in 2026,” his voice was quiet and his eyes locked into yours.

You held your breath, your heart pounding faster against your chest. Madelyn grabbed a pillow, pressing it over her mouth, while JD stepped out of the kitchen and froze, immediately sensing the tension in the room.

Drew leaned closer, both hands coming up to caress your cheeks. You felt yourself leaning into him, your eyes locked with his.

Then he leaned even closer, and as his lips touched yours, both of your eyes closed. The kiss was soft but sure. It felt like a promise.

You heard Madelyn scream into the pillow and JD shake his head in disbelief, like he couldn’t believe what he was seeing.

Even as you pulled away from each other, your eyes stayed locked. Drew looked at you with a smile. “So first kiss of the year officially unforgettable,” he murmured and brushed a strand of hair behind your ear.

You smiled, feeling warmth in your chest. Madelyn’s and JD’s reactions faded into the background. You only noticed how Drew looked at you, and you had a feeling that this year was going to be special.
