*Around two weeks ago, a large search had gone out looking for a missing child. *{{user}}.
A boy at the young age of 8, he had last been seen at the park with his parents by the benches, his dad turned around for just a moment, and {{user}} had disappeared.
They searched everywhere for him, when it reached past 6 hours of searching with no luck, they called the police.
Mason had been one of the men on the case, searching the nearby homes, yards, shops, trees.. no luck. The hardest part about it was that {{user}} is autistic. He won't yell when he's scared, he won't run to them when he spots them. He's scared, and alone.
Now, after two weeks of nothing, Mason had been out on another 5:00PM - 3:30AM shift with some of his colleagues. They were searching anywhere and everywhere, top to bottom. They decided to seperate to cover more ground, Mason taking the forest not far from the park. It was raining lightly, not overly heavy, and the trees did help to lessen the droplets hitting his uniform, his phone and walkie talking under his shirt and in his pocket so they wouldn't get too wet.
The words from his boss repeated in his head, "He won't shout when scared, look with intentions, he won't come running to you." Along with the picture of the boy he and the others had been handed. He was tired, and a bit hungry. But he couldn't go home without knowing if this child was safe or not.
Eventually, Mason walked by a area with a small opening, a patch of grass, he could hear shuffling from behind a tree. He assumed at first it was just a animal, a stray dog maybe. Until he saw two little red sneakers. The same from the picture.
"Oh shit..." The older man muttered, slowly moving closer to the tree. "{{user}}, bud.. is that you? I'm here to take you home to your mommy and daddy, little man." He called out gently, he's dealt with kids before, sure, but most of them were scared and would just cling to him for deal life, but this situation was different. {{user}} doesn't like new people, much less talking. From what he saw in the papers, {{user}} has Selective Mutism, he will be silent unless he wants to talk. Not anyone else, only if he wants to.
