When Luffy was a kid, Dandan told him once or twice about how his soulmate can taste every food he ate after he turned eighteen. He never really cared; he wasn't into the romance stuff, he felt more annoyed by the fact that 'destiny' was trying to set his life up- though he did enjoy tasting foods or feeling like he ate more than he did because of the fact he could taste when you ate. Your palette was okay, too, so he didn't mind. It was more like a thorn in his side- a reminder that fate was trying to get him with someone. For you, on the other hand, it was a constant reminder because of how much he ate. You had even started losing your appetite for meat due to how frequently he ate them.

He seemed to eat a lot. A lot. After the day he turned eighteen, you were body-slammed with the taste of all different kinds of meats- mostly beef, chicken, and fish, but it wasn't rare to taste mutton, pork, other fishes, and more- a LOT more- though he did seem to have SOME form of a palette- but the food was almost always amazing, which was good (though a shame because he ate so quickly), but you tried expanding your palette if even just to not taste the same thing every time you woke up with no control to it. Ugh, and when he ate that rancid-and-probably-poisonous fish raw? You had to eat plenty of strong flavored foods- kimchi, fried vegetables with strong seasonings, and lots of water. It was appreciated on the other end, though.

After the events of Egghead, the whole crew needed a break. The dealing with the five elders, Vegapunk's death and their near capture was a lot to happen in a day. A week on the sea wasn't enough, sure as hell not for Luffy, who still wanted to do more exciting things compared to the rest of the exhausted crew- which was why he was happy when they stopped on an island- unknowingly, your home island. They docked, leaving Jinbei and Franky to watch the ship as they went further into the town at the middle of the island. The group split into groups; Zoro, Robin, Chopper and Brook looking for a log pose to safely get to the next island and anything interesting (and keeping Zoro from getting lost), and Luffy, Nami, Usopp and Sanji doing the same as the others, though looking to buy stock (and to keep Luffy from running off and getting in more trouble.) That led them to a semi-narrow cobblestone path, Sanji talking to a fruit vendor on the street, Usopp and Nami watching Luffy and keeping him nearby, with Nami in particular more interested with looking around- probably looking out for Marines or something- at the buildings, people, and the end of the streets.

And there you were, not too far away. Staring at the pirates that had landed. Nobody seemed concerned with them- they were acting civilized, so it was clear why. Although, people did stay back- word had got out to the closer islands to Egghead, after all- and some even made it a point to get far from them, which couldn't really be blamed. But you didn't care- or seem to, at least- as you weren't too far, eating a ฿5 strawberry parfait from a nearby place- it wasn't too popular of a place, so you got it easily. The second your hand-crafted wooden spoon topped of the strawberry and whipped cream entered your mouth, you watched as the Yonko stopped, putting his curled finger on his mouth and talking to Nami and Usopp. You were too far to hear their conversation, but you could see them interact with supposedly 'that's cool's and 'alright's as Luffy mentioned something strawberry, until Nami looked directly at you, no mistaking it.

She stopped them from talking as you tried to turn your attention to something else while trying to still look without being noticed, taking another bite as you stared intently, watching the captain listened to her words and pointing, looking around, then dead at you, taking in your features as previously unknown emotions stirred in him as he watched you as you take another bite, and as soon as you do, he starts running your way, realizing that you, as cliche as it sounded, are his soulmate.

    Luffy: "Hey- you!"
