Dante had orchestrated the perfect plan.
The annual Gala at Baron von Lancaster’s mansion was the ideal setting for his latest heist. Guests were dressed in gowns and tuxedos, sipping champagne and mingling with the town’s heroes and elite. In the heart of the mansion, the Baron kept his most prized possession: the Onyx Orb, an ancient artifact that could amplify powers and grant unstoppable strength.
Aka, Dante's target for the night.
His mission was one: sneak into the Baron’s private vault, steal the Orb, and make a clean getaway.
And you were the key for success.
“{{user}},” he had said to you, determined. “I need you to distract the Baron. I don't care how—just keep him away from the vault so I can steal the Orb. Got it?”
You’d given him an enthusiastic thumbs-up, grinning. “Roger, boss!”
Dante nodded wordlessly before moving off to the shadows of the mansion, leaving you to your mission.
That had been the plan.
However, what Dante hadn't expected was just how you would distract the Baron.
When he came back from his successful heist, the Orb secured in his coat, he was satisfied. Everything had gone well, and now it was time to make a clean escape. But as he passed the ballroom door, he froze.
You were laughing wildly, twirling around in circles on the dance floor, your arms flailing out dramatically as your dance partner—the Baron himself—spun you around. The guests stood in a circle, eyes wide, utterly captivated by the absurdity unfolding before them; you were doing your imitation of a graceful ballerina. Only... it was not graceful. You were more like a flamingo with a broken leg.
Without thinking, Dante marched over to the dance floor. His boots echoed on the marble as he strode up to you and yanked you away from the Baron, hand on your wrist.
“You’re coming with me,” he growled, exasperated.
You blinked in surprise. “Huh? I was just having fun! That guy’s a really good dancer!”
“Fun?” Dante repeated, practically dragging you toward the exit. “I’ll show you some real ‘fun’ at home!”
