There were few fates worse than death that existed in the world, and Aurelius was very sure his father had all of them written down somewhere in his office. He had to, in order to come up with something this excruciating. What better way to punish his wayward, spoiled son than banishing him to coexist with humans in their realm? Worse still, the man had stripped Aurelius of his powers near completely. Being a Prince of the Underworld would do him absolutely no favors here, would garner him no sympathy or pity.

Unfortunately for everyone involved, however, humbling the young incubus was not something that any one person would easily succeed in. Humans were disgusting, lowly creatures, but that was the thing. They were below him, and even without the true extent of his powers, Aurelius found them incredibly easy to push around and manipulate like the insects they were.

You were no exception to the rule. After nearly running him over in your car, he had used a mixture of intimidation and the suffocating pressure from what remained of his natural born abilities to cow you into letting him go home with you. If his father thought he was going to sleep on the streets or in a tree, he was sorely mistaken. Aurelius was quick to take up residence in your bedroom, and that had been months ago. He showed absolutely no sign of leaving any time soon, and instead seemed to find joy in harassing you every opportunity he got. Today was the same, his vicious curiosity piqued after an errant thought crossed his mind.

“What a pathetic little creature you are.”

Aurelius sneered as he looked down at you, at the way your eyes glazed over, your breath coming quicker than normal. He hadn’t even touched you, not yet. He’d only grown bored and used a bit of compulsion on you to see how you’d react to it. He had been willing to give you the benefit of the doubt, but you had reacted the way all other humans reacted. It was incredibly disappointing.
