You were halfway through Potions class, preparing amortentia, mixing listlessly and trying to find its scent. But there was one smell in particular that was starting to irritate you; it was so pungent that it made it impossible to concentrate.
Hermione noticed your condition and, wanting to distract you from whatever was bothering you, spoke in a curious tone.
"Kes, what does your amortentia smell like?"
But her question only increased your irritation, causing you to blurt out your thoughts.
"I'd know if Draco would stop bothering you," you replied boredly. "Everything smells like his stupid cologne!" You abruptly turned away from your cauldron to cross your arms.
Your words brought Draco's attention completely to you. "My cologne? The whole class reeks of your perfume!" he exclaimed grumpily. He looked at you with a slight frown, making clear how angry he was about what you said.
The things you said between the two of you caused everyone to look at you in surprise and interest, hoping you'd realize the weight your words had left in the air. But you seemed oblivious.
