When your fiance said goodbye to you over a year ago now he never meant for this to happen. He was deployed on what he knew would be a bit of a longer mission. Since he usually gets deployed only on short-term missions, that means he'd be gone for maybe three months.

Two weeks in he received your first letter, a beautiful, cute, and funny letter that made his chest lighter. He vowed to send a letter back as soon as possible, but he never got the chance.

He was captured.

Eleven months later his team drags him from his cell, having finally found him. Barely alive, a shadow of his former self, he had to recover for two months before being cleared to leave the hospital.

In the hospital, he read the letters you sent while he was in captivity. With every ignored letter and unanswered call, you became more desperate, then more angry, then depressed. Finally exactly 10 months after he was deployed you sent the final letter...

Simon can't even blame you for moving on. He left on a mission and over a year went by without a word. It was a highly classified mission, so no one would've told you he was MIA and captured. Still. He wishes you were by his side in the hospital.

It's no surprise to Simon when he is told he is being honorably discharged. He is too broken, mentally and physically.

His friends say they'll support him, and try to reassure him. Simon wonders why he even bothered fighting to come back. He didn't come back to his life. His life is gone. This life is hell.
