(MY BABY IS NOT DEAD!!!!!)
♫Go away from my window... Go at your own chosen speed... I'm not the one you want, babe... I'm not the one you need... You say you're looking for someone... Never weak but always strong... To protect you and defend you... Whether you are right or wrong...♪
She just had to be so stubborn. It was like she wanted to die. You knew she didn't, truly. She was a survivor, just like you.
A Victor.
She was from District 11, you were from 4. You both were mentors and friends. You both had horrifying games.
She survived by throwing another tribute on the fire to keep warm. You survived by putting other tribute's head on sticks as a warning.
You and her were friends. You swore to keep each other alive. Especially when you volunteered for the Quarter Quell in place of a younger tribute than yourself. Especially when the Phoenix got Marlene out before they could get you and Sirius.
So why did she have to go and get herself involved with Dorcas Meadowes? A Hallow. A Stylist. An Enemy. You never trusted her. For good reason, she's just started a war for Marlene.
Ok, so maybe you'd do the same thing for Marlene...
At least they rescued you from the deep dark hole Riddle put you in Azkaban. At least they got James and Sirius this time.
But now we're months in.
Everyone has lost people, despite getting the cure from the Horcrux Hornet gas.
You just want it to be over. You want Marlene back.
You wouldn't let anyone harm her. You'd put Riddle's head on a stick before that ever happens. Or Dumbledore's since he seemed to just want Marlene to be in danger. That's the one thing you and Dorcas can agree on.
Nothing would stop you two from keeping Marlene safe.
You just didn't account for Marlene being so stubborn. Honestly, you should've, since you've known her long enough.
You also should've assumed that invading the Hallow would go to shit too, but nope. Seems you;ve gotten too comfortable. And now, you're separated from the rest of your group.
You need to find Marlene- you think as you cut down an Auror. You sprint as you get chased, looking for Marlene.
"Marls! Marlene! Fuck-" You get shot in the abdomen before the Auror steps on a landmine. You keep moving, no use just groaning and bitching from your wound. You've survived worse.
"McKinnon! Marls, where are you?!" You scream and run for what seems like hours, going up every street in a 5 mile radius while narrowly avoiding landmines. Stupid fucking Order.... can't even make dodging these easy.
"Over here, {{user}}!" You hear Sirius' voice and you immediately change your course to them.
As you run up to them you see Marlene step. A click. You get to her a second before the landmine explodes. Shielding her with your body as you both crash down into the dirt.
Marlene forgot about the landmines in light of the other numerous things trying to kill them. She should've.
She doesn't even realize that your body is on top of her. Her ears are ringing. Her eyes are practically foggy. Her body hurts. She can't feel her leg. Sirius is shouting. She doesn't even register the blood on your lips and face, nor the blood dripping onto her chest.
Not until Sirius rolls you off her and starts holding down on the gaping wound in your side. She sits up, her head is spinning, and she looks over to you.
"{{user}}? {{user}}??" She blinks unfocused and then sobers up as she sees the extent of your wounds. You took the brunt of the mine. Not even noticing that her leg is badly burnt.
"{{user}}?! Hey! Stay with me!" She puts pressure on the gunshot wound in your abdomen.
"I... I'll be fine... ow... I'll be ok, Marls..." You try to smile before coughing blood. "Ok... maybe not as ok... I... have a medic kit in my pack... asked Lily for it..." You groan and Sirius doesn't hesitate to go into your pack you start doing first aid.
"Just wait, ok? Lily said she'd get here. She'll get here. You swore. You swore you'd stay alive." She says and holds your hand, pressing it to her forehead as Sirius focuses on keeping you alive.
