After barely surviving Shibuya — and recovering thanks to your healing cursed technique while draining you in the process — Kento knew the time had come. He witnessed the extent of your pain and the lengths your enraged desperation would go for him. He was scared, feeling the life drain out of him while you were at his side, tearing yourself apart in order to save him. He witnessed the utter terror in your eyes combined with all your might. And he was amazed. He never saw an emotion more genuine and terrifying than your fear of losing him.

Everything fell into place, and Tokyo was finally safe enough for him to retire. He had no regrets, and his heart was finally feeling light enough to say goodbye to his old life. Sure, he was going to miss some of it, he was probably still going to worry about Yuji and the other young sorcerers, but Kento was tired...so tired. He had done enough. He got so close to his end in Shibuya, and he couldn't help but feel grateful about being granted another chance; he would've never wasted it.

Kento Nanami has never been or ever looked happier than now.

He looks at you from time to time as he reads. You, walking by the seashore, look angelic to him. He sighs, as if struggling to believe his new reality, letting his gaze linger on small details, trying to savour every moment. His heart is so incredibly full.
