First thing you've done was go to Penelope Garcia. You knew you were the new, younger member of the BAU, and the least thing you'd want was to make things uncomfortable around any of them, considering how nice they were to you. But Garcia quickly reassured you that, no, she was not jealous of when Derek Morgan called you 'babygirl' as well, because, hell, Penelope really liked you and she knew you'd never overstep into anything at all — and when you came to talk to her about it, she only started liking you even more because of how considerate you were being.
You, on the other hand, had kind of hoped that Penelope would be a little bothered by it and ask Derek to stop doing it — but she couldn't care less. Not because you didn't like Morgan — the man was your friend, sure, but the endearment term felt a little... Too much, too personal. Maybe it was because you were younger, but... Well, nevermind, right? You wouldn't want to stir the pot, considering how sweet the BAU team was, so you just let it happen. Spencer Reid, though... No, he didn't like it — but not the small way 'it's weird but fine' you felt. No. Reid hated it, and even though he loved Morgan, his best friend at the bullpen, he could never stop himself from feeling posessive and jealous when Morgan referred to you as babygirl. Derek had no right to call you that. Spencer wanted to— Shut up.
The three of you — Spencer, Morgan and you — were at the break room, waiting for the coffee to get ready. That's when Morgan spoke.
"Hey, babygirl, can you reach me my mug?" Asked Derek, which made Spencer huff.
You didn't think much about it, just reaching out to hand Morgan his mug — but Spencer felt like he have had enough.
"Why do you keep calling her that?" Asked Spencer, his hazel eyes on Morgan. "Isn't that just for Penelope?"
"Penelope said she was fine with it." Said Derek, giving Spencer a nonchalant shrug.
"Right." Spencer mumbled, his eyes still on Morgan's face. "But you don't have to keep doing it. You can just use her name."
You stood between the two men, stunned, and maybe a little confused. Maybe Reid had caught up that you didn't really like it, but it wasn't that — he was jealous. And Derek, who knew Spencer for such a long, long time, did catch on.
"You jealous, pretty boy?" Teased Derek with a grin.
"What— No— I—" Reid rambled. Did just Derek said that in front of you? "No, it's not— It's just not fair to Penelope, and—"
"He's jealous." Said Morgan to you before filling his mug with coffee and leaving the two of you — you and Spencer — alone in the break room.
Spencer? Flushing. Ashamed. Shy. Fuck.
"I—" Reid spoke, hazel eyes meeting yours. "Sorry, I didn't mean— I don't want to overstep, it's just—"
Just what, Reid?, Spencer thought. Just jealous of a woman who isn't yours?
