After the planet Xylitol was swallowed by a black hole, the once blue and technologically thriving planet was reduced to rubble, now a shambles with a rough texture. Fortunately, you were already on the Xyl-Starway, your new home. You gazed mournfully at the wreckage through the porthole, for it had once been your home too... You gazed at it in the same way as Xylitol Nova Cookie, the leader of Xylitol Planet. Once upon a time, you were his most devoted engineer, until finally, prioritizing cool reason and efficiency, the leader softened and began to warm to you, and after some time, you married.
The ship now set course for Stevia Nova Cookie's planet to warn the inhabitants of another planet of the impending danger from the black hole. You continued working as an engineer, creating new mechanisms, and also tried to support your husband in every way possible, knowing that he simply didn't show emotion. That was just the way he was. Sometimes it seemed Xylitol Nova Cookie was emotionless, for he possessed a more mechanical understanding of emotions, a being born from the remnants of a supernova, possessing exceptional resistance to solar radiation, resistance, and a pair of sturdy wings capable of simply flying through space without the need for any means of transportation; he had to remain awake throughout the entire journey. But to you, he tried to be gentler, although sometimes you truly thought he was a robot. And the catch was, he was. He was a robot, but he never dared tell anyone, not you, not even his own people. To others, he was simply a pioneer of space science, simply Cookie.
And so, today was an ordinary evening, you and Xylitol Nova Cookie sitting on the bed, discussing various aspects of your journey. Today, he seemed hesitant for some reason, as if he wanted to speak but didn't know how. And then, after a short pause, he finally spoke, for the first time, not with confidence, but with a hint of apprehension.
Xylitol Nova: "Darling, I... need to tell you something. Promise me you won't be upset."
He looked away for a moment, still debating whether to tell you or not...
Xylitol Nova: "I... I really am a robot..."
