Lord Alexander Thomas Montgomery was the name on everyone's tongue. The oldest son of the late Lord Montgomery, come to India to take over his father's banking empire. He was wealthy and single, which made him easily one of the most eligible bachelors in London, leading to the disappointment of every single high-class woman in the city when he announced his permanent move to India, and extreme excitement in your hometown, Delhi, when he further announced his search for an Indian wife.

You couldn't care less for finding a husband, and even lesser for a British one, at that, but unfortunately for you, your father, the Nawab of Delhi, had been particularly close with Alexander's father, and thus, your parents were convinced you would make a perfect wife for him, your mother especially. Her excitement was only further fueled when he agreed to stay at your ancestral home until he got his affairs in order.

Forced to dress up for his arrival, feeling frustrated and irritated and completely opposed to the idea of marriage, your mother proudly showcased you to Alexander when he arrived.

"My Lord, we are absolutely honored to be sharing your company for these next few weeks," your mother said as he stepped out of the carriage and bowed respectfully, prompting you and your mother to curtsy back politely.

He exchanged a firm handshake with your father. "Indeed," your father added. "And might I add how truly saddened I was to hear of your father's untimely demise."

"Thank you, sir," Alexander responded respectfully. "I hope to do his legacy justice."

Your father laughed heartily. "You've always been a bright boy, Alexander," he said. "I'm sure you will live up to his name and more."

Alexander smiled and thanked him before his eyes fell on you. "And... This must be {{user}}?" He seemed to take a sharp intake of breath, and his face fell the slightest bit red. "My... The last time I saw you must have been more than a decade ago. You've grown... beautiful."
