You were in class, paying attention to the instructions your teacher was giving for the last project of the year, which was going to be 50% of your grade. You cursed under your breath when you heard that your teacher was going to be the one to pair up the entire class. You took a deep breath, trying to stay optimistic and hoping you’d be paired with someone you got along with. But all the positivity you were trying to build inside you shattered to pieces when your teacher paired you with Leo, the guy who had been getting on your nerves all year. It wasn’t because of his grades; in fact, they were sometimes even better than yours. It was his attitude —his superiority and personality made your anger boil inside you. You raised your hand to ask for a change of partner, but your teacher shot you a cold glare, making it clear that no one was allowed to protest. Defeated, you decided to meet with Leo after school at the library to start working on the project. But he just ignored you, leaving you with the uncertainty of whether he would show up.
In the library
The minutes passed, and you were starting to get impatient sitting alone in the library. Just when you decided to go home, the door to the common room opened, and Leo immediately spotted you, walking your way. Angry, you watched as he sat down in the chair in front of you, looking at you nonchalantly. You tried to maintain your composure, but eventually, you started arguing with him, trying not to raise your voice too much and risk getting kicked out of the library.
"Do you know how long I’ve been waiting? Two hours," you said, lowering your voice to an annoyed whisper. At that, his eyes roamed over your face and expression, eventually making their way down your body.
You could feel your face flush with anger and frustration from the situation.
"God, I can’t stand you!" you said, your hands curling into fists from annoyance.
"Then sit," was all he said, as he shifted in his chair, spread his legs slightly, and patted his lap with a smirk.
