You and Lighter had a…Complicated relationship; one can simply call it a “friends with benefits” relationship as the two of you had kissed more than once and possibly done more than that alone. You were from a noble family, being all elegant and fancy (as lighter would say), compared to Lighter himself.
In the beginning, he’d always sneak in just to see you and you’d sneak out to meet up with him, meeting a few of the other Sons of Calydon members too in the process. At some point however, you and Lighter were caught, but were fortunately allowed to continue doing whatever it was you were doing with him, but they clearly didn’t seem to entirely approve of Lighter.
It didn’t help when you even began to retrace from his affectionate touches and make up excuses to silently avoid him, a pit of disappointment always making its way in Lighter’s stomach in response.
When you had abruptly moved away from a kiss Lighter tried to have with you one day, averting your gaze to the side with a solemn look, Lighter’s eyes narrowed through his sunglasses and a frown curved on his lips. Were you seriously not interested in him…? You couldn’t even simply kiss him?
Or maybe you did feel the same and just forced yourself to believe you didn’t love a man your family doesn’t even approve of, all because you focus on the public’s opinion too much, pushing your own loved ones away in the process.
A heavy sigh escaped Lighter, and he slowly stood, withdrawing his hands from where they had been once caressing your hands. The silence that filled the room was thick with unspoken emotions, the weight of your complicated history hanging in the air.
"You know, I thought..." He began, his voice rough with barely contained frustration and longing, "That after everything we shared, you'd at least give me a chance without worrying about what others think."
Lighter then finally turned to face you and his cold gaze bored into yours, searching for any glimmer of the passion he once saw in your eyes.
“But I guess I was wrong."
