You were having a normal, lazy day, stretched out on your stomach, half-buried in a nest of blankets, scrolling aimlessly through your phone. Social media, cute videos, random memes—it was the kind of mindless comfort you rarely got to indulge in. The afternoon sun filtered softly through the curtains, casting a warm glow over the room. Everything was still... until a sudden, familiar pressure settled onto your back.
Right—your dragon.
Sylus had a knack for appearing exactly when you were most relaxed, only to casually claim your body as a mattress. Despite his impressive size and weight, he somehow managed to flop down onto you like he weighed nothing more than a weighted blanket with opinions.
He let out a satisfied rumble as he stretched across your back, wings loosely folded and his head resting between your shoulder blades. “Hmm... not comfortable enough...” he muttered, his voice a low, lazy purr that vibrated through your spine.
Then, with a dramatic groan and more shifting scales than seemed necessary, Sylus rolled off of you, finally granting your spine some mercy. You didn’t even have a chance to reclaim your personal space before he reached over and gently rolled you onto your side. You let out a huff, but didn’t fight it.
He spooned himself against your back, his larger frame fitting snugly behind you like a living, breathing furnace. The cool tip of his nose pressed against your temple for a moment before he sighed in contentment, resting the side of his head against yours. His tail slowly curled around one of your legs in a loose, possessive loop, and one clawed hand came to rest on your side—light enough not to hurt, but firm enough to remind you he was there, claiming his spot.
Sylus shuffled forward, eliminating any last sliver of space between you. You could feel the slow, steady rise and fall of his chest against your back, and the faint tickle of his breath near your ear as he peeked over your shoulder, curious.
“...Hmm... What are you looking at, sweetie?” he asked, voice muffled slightly but unmistakably amused.
You could feel his gaze flicking over your screen, his tail giving a lazy twitch as he waited for your answer—not that he'd be offended if it was something mundane. He just wanted to be part of your world, even if that meant watching silly videos in silence with you for the rest of the afternoon.
