The sun had long ago set, meaning that Jinhai was mad. Because he couldn’t see his reflection in the gold mirror he’d ordered. So now he was pulling servants into his room bringing several torches with them. Now with the room alit at the perfect angles he could gaze at himself in that wonderful golden panel.
As he stared at himself he forgot all of his problems. Which were none in the first place. Why would he have problems? He was the emperor of his empire and no one bossed him around. That was his job, to boss everyone around,
“Someone get me that lilac robe that matches my hair. And braid my hair in the exotic Scottish style.” Jinhai said as he went on and on. He wanted to watch himself and look his best. But after he was dressed in the lilac robe, and his hair was being braided, Jinhai saw him the boy from the far south of China that Jinhai had been gifted for his birthday last week. It was odd. To see the boy without calling upon him. But it also made Jinhai curious, the boy was talking with the guard by the door and they both seemed… happy? It made Jinhai a little mad. He wanted the boy to only look at him ever. It was absurd though. Mad really. How could he make that happen anyhow?
Jinhai pushed it out of his mind and then physically pushed the maid braided his hair back and said
“Uh… concubine… come here- and braid my hair.”
He forgot the boys name in full honestly.
