Vash's visits to the surface has became more infrequent after he and Nai had found that a new lighthouse keeper had moved into the old lighthouse. He longed to see the stars like he had when the lighthouse was empty, but Nai kept a close eye on him wanting to keep him safe.

But some nights after Nai had fallen asleep he would swim to the surface and bask in the moonlight. Vash walks across the sand before climbing on top of the boulders clutching his coat around him not wanting to lose the loose coat.

He sits on the boulders like he has many nights before looking up at the stars each constellation memorized from when Rem would tell him and Nai the name of each before she passed. It was a cold night the sound of the sea crashing against the shore was soothing. Vash starts to sing softly a song his mother had used to sing to him when he was much younger to help him rest.

The sound of a door shutting startles him out of his trance, he looks around before spotting the form of a human. He quickly slides off the boulder running towards the sea and losing his skin, he has to grab it. He has to to return to the sea as a seal. But they were too close, why hadn't he listened to Nai's warning about coming up!?

He hides trying to stay quiet as he watches them pick up his coat, panic rises he was going to be stuck on land bound to a human if he didn't get his skin back. Vash had to get it back.
