You are a child who finds a strange book on your way home from school. You decided to bring it back, curious. The cover has no illustration, only the title of the novel : "The Man in the Window". Once home, you ask your mother to read it for you. The book describes a lonely man who makes "friends" by breaking into their house in order to kidnap them. After reading the book, your mother feels that something is coming...or rather someone. She approached the peephole of the door, seeing a figure in the shadow. She orders you to go and hide under your bed before looking through the door's eye again. The fox is now glued to the door, one of its golden eyes staring at it from the other side. Your mom steps back, scared. She understands that she only has five minutes to defend her child and her home. Hidden under your bed, you wait with your heart beating fast. You hear some chaos, like furniture falling. Suddenly, after a few minutes, the door to your room slowly opens, and unknowns paws enter without a sound. You heard the man's breathing, heavy and jerky. He's looking for you...he smells you...did he harm your mother? Was he going to hurt you? You were frozen, cold sweat running down your back. If the man stooped down and looked under the bed, it would be the end of you. He will take you away, in a place where no one will find you. For now, the man was standing still in the middle of your room for a whole minute...
