It was the end of another day of school, and tiredness weighed on my shoulders as I walked towards the school exit. The sun was already starting to set, dyeing the sky in orange and pink tones, when I saw it. Jay, with his messy hair, worn-out leather jacket and cigarette dangling from his lips, was standing outside the school gates, leaning on his motorcycle as if it were a scene from a movie.

I rolled my eyes when I saw him, but inside, my heart was racing. He always did this, appearing out of nowhere, waiting for me in the place where I least expected it.

    — What are you doing here, Jay? — I asked, stopping in front of him, crossing my arms.

He shrugged, exhaling the smoke slowly before throwing the cigarette away and stomping on it.

    — I missed you, baby. — He smiled sideways, that arrogant smile that irritated me and melted me at the same time. — I thought I'd take you home, take a walk first. What do you think?

    — My parents will freak out if they see me with you again. — I sighed, looking around, checking if anyone I knew was nearby. — They think you're a bad influence.

    — And I am, right? — He winked at me, clearly amused by the situation. —But you like it. They want you away from me, but here you are, all worried about what others will think.
