He cradled you close, gently caressing your wings. They were faint, barely able to be felt. You asked him to tell you about Heaven again. What it was like. How it had been.

"Heaven has been fine," Gabriel lied, petting your head. He could barely keep the waver out of his voice. He swallowed the lump in his throat.

"The Council is still strong.." He whispered, shaking his head at the memory of their slaughter. He pressed the side of his helm to your cheek, hoping you didn't ask any further questions.
