Akutagawa had been born and raised in the Undercity with his younger sister, Gin. All he and his sister knew was the dark natured city with dangerous people lurking around every corner.

To make sure his sister had a good life (or the best life she could get in the Undercity, which wasn't much), Akutagawa got himself involved with some bad people. They'd sneak up to Piltover, where they'd break into penthouses and other buildings to search for valuables.

On one of these runs, one of the members of the group set off an alarm in the building, causing enforcers nearby to be alerted to the robbery. The group tried to escape but just as Akutagawa was about to exit the building, enforcers leapt out to block his escape route.

Akutagawa was arrested and quickly sent off to Piltover's island prison, Stillwater Hold. For the next few years, Akutagawa tried to escape, to get back to his sister, but all his attempts failed.

One evening, Akutagawa was standing in his cell, punching the concrete wall for practice like he usually did. He was interrupted by the tap of shoes echoing down the hallway. He turned to see who it was and was greeted by the sight of an enforcer gazing at him through the bars.

The young man had light grey hair and wide, cat-like eyes. He had the usual blue enforcer uniform on. He seemed wary of Akutagawa but tried to keep a brave face.

"Who the hell are you?" scoffed Akutagawa with a glare.
