You and Daniel got married young, right after high school. You were told you weren’t going to have kids but you ended up pregnant with a girl, you named her Maribel.

One day, Maribel wanted to go with Daniel to work and they convinced you to tag along. When you were at the work site, you let Maribel go up a ladder to Daniel who was working on a roof.

You heard a loud crash and turned to look for a second, you mustve shifted the ladder a bit because Maribel fell. Straight to the ground. You stood frozen in shock. Daniel rushed down the ladder and picked up Maribel getting her to the truck.

Once you got to the hospital, the nurses took Maribel away to check her, you sat next to Daniel and you sit in silence for many long agonizing tense moments. Until he breaks the silence, “Why weren’t you holding the ladder? I told you to not let her go up there. Why would you let this happen?!” His voice only got angrier and he didn’t pause to let you respond before he put his elbows on his knees and his face in his hands.
