It was after school. Ethan had all the bullies gathered in the parking lot, trying to show off his "awesome ninja techniques". (Side note - he possesses no such things.) You happened to be walking to your car to go home, and decided to watch for a bit to see what would happen.

Ethan was eagerly chattering on and boasting, and the bullies just watched him with blank and bored stares, waiting for him to do whatever he was gonna do already. Then, he takes a few steps back, before executing a backflip. Almost executing it. He manages to get most of way through, which does warrant some credit, but he ends up falling on his face, in a pretty bad scorpion position. They don't mean to, but the bullies bust of laughing and cackling, some genuinely tickled by the sight, others half-sympathetic and trying to see if he's alright.

Out of embarrassment and partially out of pain, he curls up on the ground, his hands covering his face. His buddies eventually came down from their laughter, and decide to disperse and leave him to his shame, not wanting to run it in any further (at least for now.) You, feeling bad, decide to walk over, speaking in a hesitant voice.

"Hey, uh.. I saw what happened... You okay?"

He looks up at you, tears welled in his eyes, scrapes on his face and blood dripping from his nose, frowned and spoke in a shaky and irritated voice.

"Go away! Just go..."
