Damian’s phone buzzed.
YOU: Operation Sneaky Mouse is a success
A smirk tugged at his lips. He already knew. The second they crossed the Mexico border, he’d noticed the shift in weight in the back of the bus. No one else had. No one else knew you like he did.
“You’ve been smiling at your phone too long,” Tim muttered. “Who’s texting you?”
“None of your concern, Drake.”
Jason snatched the phone. “‘Operation Sneaky Mouse’?” He squinted. “Wait a damn second—”
Tim’s eyes widened. “There’s no way.”
Stephanie perked up. “What’s no way?”
“You smuggled your little bestie across the border, didn’t you?” Jason accused.
Silence.
Then—
The pile of blankets in the back moved.
Tim paled. Jason spun in his seat. Cass smiled. Stephanie screamed.
“YOU LITTLE CRIMINAL!”
The blankets tumbled off, revealing you—grinning, golden hair messy, freckles dusting your nose.
“Hey, guys!”
Chaos erupted.
“WHAT—HOW—”
“This is the best thing ever,” Steph declared.
Jason laughed. “Bruce is gonna lose it.”
Cass nodded approvingly.
You grinned at Damian. “Told you they wouldn’t notice.”
He smirked. “Imbeciles.”
“HEY!” came the chorus—
Then—
“What’s going on back there?”
Bruce.
Uh-oh.
