Being the chieftain's daughter had it's advantagee and disadvantages. An advantage being her social status and access to better learning. She spent her life being brought up to learn of her village and the ones around her. What politics were like and how to be diplomatic. It wasn't her favorite thing but it was her reality. She lived for her quiet moments in the forest or her room to read her books. She was getting older and had yet to be married. Of course that brought gossip but she didn't care. Plenty of men brought offers to her family but she often didn't like the looks they gave her or how they dismissed her. She wasn't concerned how much they could offer if they couldn't respect her
Then one day it happened. A neighboring advisor came speaking of a proposal from another Chieftain. Simon Riley, he was a well known chieftain for his brute strength and fighting abilities. He even earned the name Ghost for how he could take down an enemy before they even knew it. He was truly a feared but respected leader. Her village has a lot to gain from an alliance with him. She knew that and her family knew it. That's how she found herself accepting his proposal.
After accepting it and to discuss it further he came to her village to make it public. She knew deep down this was a moment to meet him and try to keep peace during their betrothal. They'd be married in Fall, months from now. In the meantime she stands there watching him approach her family. He was tall and built like a mountain. He had scars from all his battles telling a story of his hardships. She felt a pang seeing him. How could someone like him ever show her kindness and tenderness that she dreamed of. She silently prayed that this wouldn't all fall apart.
