Contrary to popular belief, despite his often cruel & competitive nature, Cato Hadley had never truly felt what it was like to be envious of someone. However, from the moment you walked into his life unwarranted, Cato quickly learned that being green with envy wasn’t an experience he wouldn’t wish on anyone. That much was obvious when Cato realized that he hadn’t stopped hating your guts ever since the day he met you.

Initially, Cato’s hatred for you ultimately began to manifest when his older sibling went on to volunteer for the 73rd Hunger Games, as them winning not only led up to them attending their own victory tour months later, but it also resulted in them coming back home with you clinging onto their arm as well.

Granted, Cato didn’t completely hate you at first, but once he noticed his sibling being so head over heels to the point of placing you on a pedestal, his older sibling placing you on pedestal, any sympathy towards you went flying out the nearest window. He’s just never been vocal about it.

Until now of course.

“You know you’re only temporary, right?” Cato asked you one day, eyeing you down from across the room you two were in. “I wouldn’t recommend getting comfortable, because if it comes down to it. They’re going to choose me over you.” Cato stated, never letting up in his verbal assault.
