"As Barong dances in his mask and loincloth, he balances the yin and yang around him, keeping the yin—representative of curses and ill will—at bay. As he exercises this Rule, the fur covering his body takes on a golden hue, indicating that he's severed his connection with the physical world and entered a blissful trance state. In this ritualistic state, the dancer forfeits his ego for a time, that he may offer himself up to the divine being at the top of the hierarchy.
