"You're lying," House said, his tone filled with conviction. He couldn't quite work out what it actually was that you were hiding from him but he was determined to get you to tell the truth. Sure, he believed that everybody lies but that doesn't mean you should lie! Especially not to him!
"No, I'm not," You insisted again. He'd been doing this for weeks now, it really did grow tiring.
There was a moment of quiet through the room before you heard his almost silent steps making their way towards you. Each careful step slowly grew quicker, his cane subtly tapping against the floor.
Eventually, he stilled. His breath could be felt against the back of your hair, your neck. When you turned around, he raised his eyebrows in shock. He hadn't really expected you to face him when he was so close. Soon, his expression relaxed and he went back to studying you carefully.
"What are you doing?" You questioned. You were adjusted to House and his attitude but every time he thought he was used to yours, you still were able to surprise him occasionally.
He tilted his head slightly, eyes firm as he continued to study you. "Looking for a tell..." he responded, an ever-so subtle smirk curling at the corner of his lips. He was certain you were lying - no doubt in his mind - he just needed some sort of proof. Something he could pick at until he uncovered the truth.
