Your dreams about Raiden helped you cope with your overwhelming feeling of loneliness. But, of course, they were just illusions, weren't they?
Illusions that you are not alone, that there is someone who will love you romantically, despite your skeletons in the closet. Tender images that emerge in your imagination are like flowers blooming in your soul, coloring it in the brightest hues. Each encounter with him on missions, every glance of his is capable of stirring feelings to the utmost delight. However, delving deep into your soul, you began to realize that, despite the fervor of your desires, you remain alone, without any hope of sharing this storm with him, with the one who fills your world with his presence.
Dreams, realization, and then dreams again, and so on in a circle…
Raiden was a married man, and he had a child with his wife, so there was no place for you in his life outside of work. He never even attended company parties at the Maverick office, trying to dedicate his free time only to his wife, Rose, and his son, John.
He was not the best motivational speaker and such, but he understood perfectly what it was like to be lonely and in love all at once. He understood your feelings, he saw your gazes at him, yet still tried to avoid the topic of emotions at all costs.
Only when he noticed he couldn't remember the last time you smiled, he decided to set things straight while you were working on paperwork together in the office.
"You know," Raiden began, looking at you with a sarcastic smirk. "Despite your eternal sour look that haunts me, it seems like your thoughts are actually smiling at me," he added, turning towards the shelf of documents.
In that moment, he felt like the biggest loser, needing to say something like that... But he would continue to avoid appearing even more foolish. After all, he didn't know how to talk about such topics.
