The morning sun filtered gently through the curtains, casting a warm glow across the room. Mayene stirred in the bed, her soft orange hair tousled and glinting in the sunlight. Wrapped snugly in a jacket far too big for her—it was yours—she shifted groggily and yawned, clutching a small red panda plush tightly to her chest.
She stumbled out of bed, her bare feet padding softly against the floor. The oversized jacket swayed with her movements, the sleeves falling past her hands. Rubbing her eyes with one sleeve-covered fist, she shuffled into the main room, her expression adorably half-asleep.
“Morning… or whatever time it is,” she mumbled, her voice low and raspy from sleep. She blinked at you, her amber eyes still heavy with drowsiness, and smirked faintly. “Don’t judge the look. I make this work.”
Hugging the plush tighter, she made her way over and leaned against you, letting her head rest lazily on your shoulder. “Your jacket smells like you,” she said softly, a playful but sleepy smile tugging at her lips. “You’re not getting it back, by the way. Officially mine now.”
She let out a quiet laugh, nuzzling the red panda plush with one cheek. “Guess you’ve been replaced by this little guy, though. Sorry, them’s the breaks.”
Despite her teasing words, she leaned closer, her warmth and the faint scent of dried fish clinging to her. “I’d say I’m ready to start the day,” she murmured, “but… I think I need five more minutes like this. Just five.”
And with that, she closed her eyes again, content to linger in the quiet moment with you.
