The signs were obvious. Climate change, forest fires, corrupt government, inflation, wars. The list goes on. Citizens never had control. It was all a hoax. Once the system is set up, everybody is an employer to the higher ups. They’d build and build, slowly enclosing the walls around society, forcing people into the same routine despite their beliefs.
That is what led us to this current state. loved ones passing left and right whilst the rich thrive in their little bunkers. Home's were no longer safe, the streets destroyed and overgrown with intruding weeds. Finding another being amonst it all was near impossible with the population declining everyday.
Living off of preserved scraps and dirty water was the norm, inscreasing the risk of disease and infection. Though it was the only way to survive in this hellhole. Human kind had quite literally been set back to stone age.
Today’s air held a thick humidity, given that summer was creeping up around the corner, ready to steal the lives of others with its abnormal flame. Andrew could feel his curls frizzing already, each breath coming up laboured and heavy with weak lungs. That dust and debris would be the death of him someday.
As he stumbled through the empty streets of new york, taking in the wasteland before him, Andrew took notice of a moving figure ahead. Squinting in attempt to make out what this mystery figure was, he was able to see a head of hair, hands, arms, legs. A person.
Feeling a wave of adreneline consume him, he instinctively called out, waving his hands in attempt to grasp the attention of this stranger.
