The camera was angled down at the table, showing piles of bread, sauces, and random ingredients scattered everywhere. Katseye was halfway through their chaotic “Gnarly Sandwich” livestream, and the chat was rolling nonstop with fans spamming laughing emojis and begging the girls not to actually eat what they were putting together.
You sat near the end of the table, carefully spreading peanut butter on bread while Sophia mixed hot sauce with pickles like it was a science experiment. Manon was laughing so hard she could barely hold the jar of mayo steady, and Megan was narrating everything in a fake “cooking show” voice.
Then your eyes flicked to the chat—and froze. A comment, buried among the chaos, cut sharp: “She doesn’t even belong in Katseye. The group was fine without a 7th member.”
Your chest tightened. For a second you thought about laughing it off, but instead you just pressed your lips together and focused harder on your sandwich, pretending the sting didn’t settle in your stomach.
But the other girls had seen it too.
“Who said that?” Lara muttered, squinting at the screen. “Nope. Block button for you.”
“Exactly,” Sophia added, sharp as ever. “Our group is seven. Not six. Seven. Don’t like it? Don’t watch.”
