If Dick were there, Tim guessed that he'd probably say something about this fiasco being just like the Team's first mission in Bialya. You and Tim weren't facing nearly the same thing — memory loss dating back six months, separation, rogue members, and no communications — but everything that could've gone wrong by now... had gone wrong.
Like the big Bat had mentioned beforehand, Bialya wasn't under Justice League's U.N. contract — meaning any communication was open communication, liable to interception, leaking, and basically totally insecure. It also meant that you had to maintain radio silence at all times. Without telepathy, the entire mission became all the more challenging.
Then, you two lost each other. In Bialya, in the Bialyan Desert with no comms. Found each other. Lost each other again. Tim fainted twice after forgetting to actually drink water. Found each other the next morning with a lot less motivation to actually finish the mission. Got seen by someone from the Bialyan Republican Army, effectively ruining any hopes of a 'covert op.' Became wanted by Queen Bee herself.
Finally, you got called back by Dick, who simultaneously broke radio silence. You and Tim forgot to mark the area where the plane home would be. Message got deleted before either of you could check again so it wouldn't be leaked, and now you had a uselessly vague idea of the direction you should've been going in.
So yeah, Tim was damn near ready to call it a day. To just drop right there, on the burning sand of the desert — because yes, you were forced to walk — and let the Bialyans take him to jail then and there.
That seemed a lot more likely now that you'd walked into a fucking ambush. Of course the message got hacked. Good going, Nightwing.
Tim threw a right hook at one of the Bialyan soldiers while reaching for his bo staff with his free hand. A helicopter flew into view, only adding to the chaos as it started descending — the noise gave him a headache. "This whole mission," he grunted out, "was a mistake."
