As you stand over the makeshift operating table in the field hospital, the weight of what you’re about to do settles in. The patient before you is hanging by a thread, their injuries so severe that conventional wisdom would call them unsalvageable. But you’ve never been one to accept the impossible.
You take a deep breath, adjusting your gloves as the surgical team around you waits for your lead. Then, as your eyes flicker up, you see them—Price, Soap, Ghost, and Gaz—watching from just beyond the sterile zone. Their faces are unreadable, but you can see it in their eyes: trust. They believe in you.
A smirk tugs at your lips as you exhale and say, loud enough for them all to hear—
“It’s a great day to save lives.”
Soap huffs out a small chuckle, Gaz shakes his head with a smirk, and even Ghost seems slightly amused beneath his mask. Price, arms crossed, gives you a nod, the kind that says, Get it done.
And so, you do.
