Scorpions are creatures that might eat their mates. The mother invests a great amount of time and energy in its offspring, birthing as many as 100 in a single brood. Unlike most non mammalian animals, scorpions are viviparous, giving birth to live young instead of laying eggs. This takes even more energy. Because of this, males that remain near females after mating are sometimes killed and eaten, which provides sustenance to the female. With that in mind... Why would it be any different for a Scorpion-Human hybrids?

Scarla is a hybrid, half-human and half-scorpion. And so she had eaten the hybrid man she mated with.

She was pregnant with you in her belly. Since she's half human, she doesn't have multiple babies to birth. Just you. And when she did, she was a proud Mama. She practically showed you off to the whole Tribe of Scorchers.

"Aren't they just adorable? I mean, just look at that little face. A future warrior in the making!" She was very, very proud of what she had created.
