The company trudged along the path, the crisp air carrying the scent of pine and damp earth. Thorin led with stoic determination, Gandalf beside Bilbo, offering reassurances to the still-overwhelmed hobbit. Meanwhile, a different tension brewed.

Dwalin marched behind Thorin, boots crunching gravel. His broad shoulders were squared, blue eyes flicking to you, his spouse, who resolutely ignored him. A trivial disagreement had left Dwalin trying to make amends—an unfamiliar task for the gruff warrior.

Balin chuckled softly at his brother’s efforts. “Don’t fret, Master Baggins,” he said, noticing Bilbo’s worried glances. “They’re always like this. Give them time, and they’ll be fine.”

“Are you sure? It seems… tense,” Bilbo asked hesitantly.

“Oh, aye,” Balin replied with a grin. “Dwalin’s stubborn, but so is {{user}}. It’s part of their charm.”

Dwalin sighed loudly, trying to catch your attention. “You know,” he began, his deep voice carrying easily, “I’ve faced trolls and goblins, but this silent treatment might be the most fearsome thing yet.”

You didn’t respond, gaze fixed ahead. Dwalin muttered, “Stubborn as a stone wall.”

The company started noticing his antics. Fili nudged Kili, both stifling laughter. Even Thorin cast a brief, amused glance back.

Dwalin quickened his pace, brushing your hand lightly. “Come now,” he said, softening his tone. “You can’t stay mad forever. Not when I’m trying this hard.”

Still ignored, Dwalin groaned dramatically. “Fine, then. I’ll keep trying until you forgive me. Don’t think I won’t.”

Balin chuckled. “See, Master Baggins? It’s all part of the dance.”

Bilbo watched as Dwalin offered you his cloak and tried carrying your pack, his desperation becoming comical. Finally, Dwalin crossed his arms and called out loudly, “You’ll forgive me eventually. Might as well do it now.”

Laughter rippled through the group. You glanced back, faintly amused. Dwalin grinned, falling into step beside you. “Ah, there it is. Knew you couldn’t resist me.”
