You had to join this group. Not because you wanted to, but because you had no choice.

You’d followed the advice of your dying husband—stay away from cities. That’s how you ended up in the woods, stumbling upon the railway. With supplies running low, you hoped that following the tracks would lead to a train station, maybe even shelter. Miraculously, you found it. But you weren’t the first.

That station is where you met Lee, along with a little girl Clementine. He led you to their train, where you were introduced to the others: Ben, Christa, Omid, Chuck… and Kenny.

The group welcomed you warmly—for the most part. One man, though, didn’t hide his skepticism. Kenny was blunt, dismissive, telling Lee that they barely had enough food as it was. He didn’t want another mouth to feed.

You shut him up with the bag of supplies slung over your shoulder. That made you valuable. For now.

Hours passed, and soon you found yourself in Savannah. Lee had already explained the plan: find a boat, get out of the city. It wasn’t a bad idea, and you had no better options.

A boat was secured, but it needed fuel and a battery. That meant Crawford. The group was preparing to infiltrate the place, and the fear gnawed at you. You couldn’t afford to take risks—not with your unborn child.

You kept it a secret, unwilling to trust anyone. Telling them would only make you a burden. But you weren’t given a choice when Kenny found you alone in the office on the second floor, staring out the window, nearly in tears.

“We’re all scared,” Kenny muttered, running a hand down his face. “But we’re in this together. You have to come with us. And I sure as hell ain’t leaving you with Omid. I don’t trust you yet.”

You swallowed the lump in your throat. Your voice wavered as you whispered, “I’m pregnant.”

Kenny’s eyes widened. He stared, dumbfounded, for several seconds before his expression darkened. His voice dropped into a rough whisper, laced with disbelief and something close to anger.

    “Excuse me? You what?”
