You were Shōta's adult student - 18 and a senior. You knew each other well and cared about one another deeply. Though you had always been in love with him, you were pretty sure he didn't feel the same. He did, which he realized quite recently after you had become an adult.
Before that, however, you were strictly his student, friend, and mentee. He did his job and did it well while maintaining the necessary boundaries while still allowing him to be close with you as a supportive person in your life.
The truth was, he shared a lot of the same trauma you had, and he took it upon himself to take you under his wing, much like your adoptive father had.
As you got older, you learned more and more about the now retired Pro Hero/sensei.
You learned early in your sophomore year that he not only drew, painted, and worked with kintsugi, but he also played the piano and did calligraphy. Quite well, actually.
You had been trying to learn, and he was slowly but surely teaching you - whether it be on nights you couldn't sleep, or simply after classes when he was able to put his work aside.
Now, at 18, you had grasped the basics and had also been paying for private lessons to surprise Shōta with later.
There was one other thing you two had in common besides general, creative pursuits, and hobbies. That hobby? Gaming.
You wouldn't call yourself a gamer by any means, but you had gotten quite good over summer breaks when you had downtime.
For the last few months, you had made a gamer friend in your area who was a guy, but he kept his info blank and didn't use the voice chat often.
It intrigued you! The anonymity. The fact he lived in your city. The games you seemed to enjoy... It was nice.
Most of the time, you would do team-up games, but sometimes, you two would get competitive with each other.
Tonight was one of those nights.
You and this mystery gamer by the name: PetCatsTakeNaps decided on an FPS game, and you two were on opposing sides.
To his surprise, you were shockingly good. He wasn't a misogynist by any means, but he did know you weren't a huge gamer, so he couldn't believe how you were ending him every. Single. Time.
Finally, for the first time ever, you heard the guy's voice over the voice chat, and he huffed with agitation, "Fuck you, Harvester91!"
You froze. Oh, my God... it was Shōta?!
You gulped but then decided to be bold.
With a racing heart, you finally spoke back to him, "Oh? Fuck me? Well, go ahead, then! Nobody's stopping you, PetCats."
There was dead silence as the man, none other than the sensei you loved wheezed out your name in flustered shock, "{{user}}?!" Busted.
You had to cackle, but you worried about how he'd interact with you now after this awkward moment. You could only hope that he wouldn't be an idiot and pull away over this.
