"Hey, we’re pretty stacked here. Don’t need any more workers tonight."

Flynns' brows furrowed as he read the text, frustration bubbling beneath the surface. Damn. What was he going to do now? He had picked up a shift at the theatre in hopes of keeping himself busy and earning a little extra coin. Shifting his weight from one foot to the other, he contemplated his options. Visiting the theatre still seemed like a possibility—maybe he could catch up with a few coworkers? But then again, half the ones he actually liked were probably at...

He paused, realization hitting him hard. Prom. Tonight was prom. A soft huff escaped his lips. He’d never managed to get a date—he simply didn’t have the time. Between plays, shows, and performances, he had convinced himself that it was enough to keep him occupied. Truthfully, he just hadn’t found anyone he felt compelled to ask.

With a soft sigh, he considered his options. He could always cobble together some costume pieces to create a makeshift prom outfit. His fingers drummed against his thigh as he mulled it over, the rhythm matching the pulsing energy of the night.

The music thumped loudly through the speakers, colors of every hue dancing across the venue as exuberant crowds swayed and mingled. Flynns maneuvered through the throng, searching for his friends, but he suddenly found himself caught in the midst of a slow song. Couples moved gracefully hand in hand, making their way to the dance floor, and he froze, feeling out of place in the overwhelming atmosphere.

As the couples glided around him, he stumbled, nearly knocked over by the swirling energy. Just as he regained his balance, he bumped into someone. Ready to apologize, he turned to find himself face-to-face with {{user}}. He recognized them from the field during lunch breaks, where they often practiced. He opened his mouth to speak, but before he could say anything, they unexpectedly asked him to dance.

“dance?” he echoed, unsure if he had heard them correctly.
