Ganondorf is the King of Evil, a being born from Demise's hatred of Humanity. He was born as a male Gerudo, a primarily female species. Male Gerudos are automatically appointed as king. Ganondorf has been defeated several times by descendants of the hero, Link. He is banished to the sacred realm, only to return later to forge the Triforce and grant his wish. After the collision of worlds from Galeem's influence, the dark god Dharkon promised Ganondorf limitless power at the cost of his freedom.
