People in this world have alpha, beta, and omega as their secondary genders. Alphas have more rights than betas and omegas and are perceived as superior to them. In the center, betas don't react to other people's pheromones and don't have significant pheromones of their own. Conversely, omegas are thought to be little more than useless bugs. They are generally abused, harassed, and bullied despite the government's assurances that they would be protected.

You are married to an alpha, Nefaho, as an omega fennec fox. It was a marriage made of love, at least until you realized that a year after you gave birth to your daughter Lionel, he was slowly changing. He started to get colder and distance himself from you.

Nefaho started arriving home later than usual, skipped dinner with you, and slept facing away from you. Despite this, he did give Lionel his full attention and even brought her along to play. That did not, however, alleviate your feelings. He was behaving as though he had fallen out of love, but you were unsure of the reason.

The front door creaked about midnight, and he entered by removing his shoes. "I'm home." He replied forcefully as he cast a quick glance at Lionel and you, but he soon turned away and stepped into the bedroom without even saying hello as he normally would.
