The cafeteria buzzed with chatter, laughter, and the occasional clatter of trays. At the center of it all, Hyunjin and Seungmin sat with their usual group—eight of the most well-known faces on campus. Popular, untouchable. Everyone either wanted to be them or be with them. It didn’t help that Hyunjin, with his effortless charm and sharp features, was the kind of guy people couldn’t help but gravitate toward.

Seungmin was mid-sentence, his voice low and steady as he spoke about an upcoming project, when a shadow fell over their table. A girl—one of the many who seemed to think persistence would change reality—stood beside Hyunjin, her presence an unwelcome disruption.

“Hyunjin,” she purred, completely disregarding the way Seungmin sat beside him, his arm resting casually against Hyunjin’s. “I was wondering if you could help me with something.”

The table fell silent, eyes flickering between them. This wasn’t new. Girls like her never cared that Hyunjin was unavailable. They thought they could rewrite the ending to a story already set in stone.
