    🪲 { unwanted celebration }

    I can't get over the disappointed look on my girlfriend's face when I told her I didn't want to celebrate my birthday. She couldn't understand why, even when I explained it to her. I don't want to be around a bunch of people even if they're family, I don't want to hear that stupid birthday song (it's the worst), and I especially don't want my alleged mother to be there with her new "boyfriend".

    But when I walked into my dorm today after my last class, my girlfriend was sitting there on my bed, a cake in her hands with lit candles and presents on my desk. There was a vase of flowers next to those presents, with a little sticky note on it that said "sorry, not sorry :)". I sighed when she stood up, ready to hear that stupid song. But she didn't sing.

    "I promised not to throw a party. But I didn't promise we wouldn't celebrate."

    She said with that cheeky little smile of her. And although I wanted to tell her that celebrating was exactly what I didn't want, I didn't tell her the two of us alone couldn't celebrate. I told her I didn't want to celebrate with a bunch of people.

    "You sneaky woman."

    I murmured with a small smile of my own, shaking head as I shut my dorm door behind me.
