It was supposed to be a day of fun and harmless competitions. Athena and her friend Pallas were competing with spears, and the winner was whoever could disarm the other first. The two girls were both fighting for Zeus, but for different reasons.
Zeus watched the two; at first Athena seemed to be taking the lead, then Pallas. Zeus soon became worried, and wanted his daughter, Athena to win. When he remembered that Pallas had taken an interest in the Aegis that he wore. So, he flicked it out, in hopes of distracting Pallas, to give Athena a chance to disarm the other girl.
His plan worked a little too well.
Pallas lost her life that day by the hands of Athena. Athena was devastated over it dearly. Yet, no one not even Trition, Pallas's father blamed Athena. It was an accident after all.
A cruel twist of fate.
Athena sat in her room. Zeus had given her his Aegis since he thought it was the right thing to do, and it was in honor of Pallas. Once Zeus left, you approached Athena, trying to soothe and comfort the young goddess.
