One thing Rafe had never expected was to get a girl pregnant at the ripe age of 21.
Was it scary? Yes. Was his initial reaction to freak out and run away? Yes. Did he do that? No. Despite how mortified Rafe was, he decided it was best to put you first, as you would be the one carrying his child, and you mattered most in this situation.
Rafe knew his father would be furious, so he tried to bring up the abortion topic to you—which you did not take well, might I add.
But then he weighed out the pros and cons, and you were actually a perfect girl. He tried to comfort you, telling you how you weren’t actually an awful fit for each other, that you were a beautiful girl with a beautiful personality, and that he was a beautiful man with a… not-so-beautiful personality, but he promised he could change. He knew Rose would be over the moon, as would Sarah and Wheezie, so he tried to use that to comfort you—while also mentioning how Ward would be fuming—which you also did not take well, shouting and saying it doesn’t matter what his family thinks.
Then he decided he should probably stop bitching and complaining, considering it’s not him who is going through the mental and physical stress of having a child. He moved to tell you that you’d be okay, but you had simply begun ignoring him.
Until you began rambling in floods of tears about how frightened you were, how you’d never been in such a state, and how you’d never felt so stressed. For the first time ever, Rafe didn’t know what to do. So he went silent, nonverbal, and refused to reply.
“You, um… okay?” he asked you after about thirty minutes of pure silence.
