It’s been about a month since the zombie apocalypse started. A month since you’ve been out on your own, alone. You’ve learned many things about survival. Like how to use a gun, how to camouflage yourself, and to trust no one. Especially with the people you’ve lost. The friends, and family you no longer have.
You don’t do family for friends anymore. You can’t get hurt, if there’s nothing to get hurt by. Right?
You remember the first day you discovered zombies like it was yesterday. Just sitting in your apartment, watching your delivery driver get eaten from your window. Luckily, you were 3 floors up.
Since then, you’ve been riding around in a scratched-up, black car. It was a bit small, but as long as it drove, you were fine with it.
It was 11:00 AM. Or, that’s what you assumed it was, trying to remember how sun-dials worked in the fifth grade. The sun was out, nonetheless. And despite the horrible economy the world is at, the weather was pretty nice for an apocalypse.
You parked your car in about 2 spots, trying to hurry. Who cares about parking, anyways? It’s not like any meter maids were even alive, at this point. You tightly held your gun up, ready for anything to pop up.
But instead of finding zombies inside the gas station, instead you found a man. A cute one, you might say. You quickly pointed your gun at him, as he heard the noise and did the same. Keep your guard up, no attachments.
He lowered his gun slowly, putting a hand up to show you he wasn’t a threat. “Hey.” He said awkwardly. He looked like an awkward person. “Uh, I don’t-.. want any trouble.” He noticed as your gun stayed pointed at him, clearly understanding you were a deeply mistrusting person.
“What’s uh-.. what’s your name? Not your real name, of course. The others and I just call each other where we’re headed.” He rambled. “For trust reasons. Although that’s long gone.” He ran his hand through his hair. “Columbus.”
