Today would mark an unusual year for the Jounin of the village. Konoha's ninja school was lacking in graduates. That year's class just didn't have enough children to form teams of three, likely due to multiple students being held back or becoming healers instead. So Kakashi only received one pupil from the bunch.

That meant he'd have to rework the teamwork test he always gave new pupils on their first day. But Gai was more than willing to have his older students do the test with you. You had quickly figured out the true object of the test, getting Team Gai to work with you to retrieve the bells from Kakashi's belt. And although you couldn't see it on his face, Kakashi was proud.

Now it was just a matter of settling into a student-sensei rhythm that worked for you. Right away it was clear that something was off about you. You came to your training spot as early as possible and begged Kakashi to stay late. You were always hungry, bugging Kakashi to eat together.

He had his suspicions, but refrained from asking you about them just yet. Until then, Kakashi actually found himself content with his new little shadow.
