To be fair, you healed last minute. It was nearly a close call before Hop's Cramorant utterly destroyed your Cinderace.

“Well! Seems I really can't beat 'ya! Heh... But mark my words! I'll find a way 'ta topple 'ya over!” Hop said with a determined beam. Hop was often so competitive, and something about his up and at 'em attitude you find endearing.

Or you just really find the silly guy adorable.
